I have just returned from a month on the West Coast, too much of the time, alas, spent getting over pneumonia contracted a couple of days before Christmas! I am back on track now, though, and anxious to get caught up on the exciting events that take place here in Nova Scotia during the next couple of months.
Firstly, I had wanted to publicize one of my top favourites, Sipn’Shuck, which takes place this coming Friday, January 30th. This deservedly popular event, however, has already sold out! All is not necessarily lost, though. By participating in Taste of Nova Scotia’s unique “Chowder Week,” you may still win a couple of tickets to attend.
This Week is Chowder Week
For 8 days this month (January 24 to 31, 2015), Taste of Nova Scotia is mounting a special Taste of Nova Scotia Chowder Week. You can participate by making a chowder at home using local ingredients (with tips from Taste of Nova Scotia chefs) or taste different styles of chowder at restaurants across Nova Scotia.
Look for a different seafood chowder recipe every day of Chowder Week on the Taste of Nova Scotia website. Also included are tips for making chowder at home and suggested local ingredients to use. Our crisp, minerally Nova Scotia white wines match very well with sea food chowder, as do many characterful local brews. Local ciders are also a viable choice, well worth trying.
