After working through some frustrating technical glitches, this website now appears to be up and running smoothly. I am still getting used to posting electronically rather than in print media so I hope readers will bear with me until I completely get the hang of it. Your ideas and suggestions are, of course, most welcome.
In my previous notes (October 24th 2014), I reviewed the Wolf Blass Gold Label Riesling and Shiraz. Today’s reviews include three more wines in the Gold Label range. Like the Riesling and Shiraz, all three offer very high quality and value in the low $20’s price range.
Wolf Blass Gold Label Chardonnay 2012, Adelaide Hills, South Australia 13% $22.99 NSLC (Wide Distribution) Elegant citrus, hazelnut, vanilla spice and subtle buttery toasty aromas progressing towards mellow ripe lemon citrus with background tropical fruit on the fairly full-bodied palate. Finishes with drying grip and a slight trace of bitterness. **
Wolf Blass Gold Label Pinot Noir 2012, Adelaide Hills, South Australia 13% $22.99 NSLC (Wide Distribution) Attractive warmly ripe scents of cherry, vanilla, cinnamon and a trace of oak. Varietal bright cherry flavor on the palate is supported by lightly firm tannic grip, balanced acidity and deftly integrated fruit, spice, discreet oak and a light splash of chocolate on the finish. ***
Wolf Blass Gold Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, Coonawarra, South Australia 14% $23.99 NSLC (Wide Distribution) This fine Cabernet Sauvignon reveals classic Coonawarra terroir with refined cassis, cinnamon, clove, eucalyptus and subtle oak on the nose.
